Chief Negotiators from EU Candidate Countries to Strive for Adoption of Accession Scenario

Ljubljana, 1 July - The chief negotiators for EU membership from the six candidate countries which were the first to begin negotiations with the EU, expressed that further speeding up of negotiations will require the adoption of an accession scenario which will allow the conclusion of negotiations by the year 2001 for each of the prepared candidate countries. This was written in a joint statement adopted at their 11th meeting in Krakow, adding that with this the accession process will gain the necessary caution and credibility.
