Review of Events Involving Slovenia in the Week from 24 through 30 June

Ljubljana, 1 July - The recent week was marked by celebrations on the occassion of Slovenia's 9th National Day. On Saturday the National Assembly convened for a festive session to mark the 9th anniversary of 25 June of 1991, when the then Slovene parliament passed the Basic Constitutional Charter on the Sovereignty and Independence of the Republic of Slovenia and the Declaration of Independence. The guest speaker at that parliamentary session was Speaker of Parliament Janez Podobnik. The same night an official ceremony was held in Ljubljana and was addressed by both the Slovene President Milan Kucan and Prime Minister Andrej Bajuk.
