Slovene Minority in Italy Pleased with Imminent Adoption of Minority Legislation

Trieste/Rome, 5 July - LEGISLATION/MINORITY
An umbrella organisation of the Slovene ethnic minority in Italy voiced its satisfaction on Wednesday with the fact that the bill with which Italy would protect the Slovene minority will be passed soon. The Slovene Cultural and Economic Association (SKGZ) is aware however, that the protective legislation is a result of compromises and not all of its articles are ideal, but this does not diminish the historic fact that its adoption will open up a new chapter for people and places that have gone through hardships and thus want mutual recognition, peace and co-operation to triumph.
