U.S. Supreme Court judge Anthony M. Kennedy was received by Slovene President Milan Kucan on Thursday. They talked about the development of Slovenia's judiciary and constitutional system, stressing how important the independence of judges and the judiciary was to ensure the rule of law and democracy in a state. Kennedy said that confidence in the rule of law began with the citizens' confidence in judges, the presidential office said.
