Economic Relations With Macedonia Limited by Transport and Quotas

Ljubljana, 11 July - The managment committee of the Slovene-Macedonian Chamber of Commerce assessed at Monday's meeting in Skopje that many opportunities exist for strengthening of economic relations, while the main limiting factor is the poor transport link that exists between the two countries. A large Macedonian government and business delegation will visit Slovenia with the intention to strengthen economic relations sometime in autumn. The management board of the chamber also warned of the problematic allocation of quotas for agricultural products, which were once again allocated too late and which result in poorer trade in this field. This issue is expected to be discussed by representatives of the Macedonian Ministry of Agriculture and Trade and the Slovene State Secretary at the Agriculture Ministry Franc But on Tuesday.
