Successful Economic Development Necessary for Minorities' Existence, Says Parliamentary Commission

The parliamentary commission for Slovenes living abroad on Wednesday discussed the strengthening of economic situation of Slovene minorities, set down in the Resolution on the Position of Slovene Ethnic Minorities in the neighbouring countries passed in 1996. MPs and representatives of the minorities living in Austria, Italy and Hungary agreed that successful economic development is necessary for minority's existence, and called upon the Slovene government to speed up the activities of an interdepartmental commission founded in 1998.
