Slovene and European Legislators Visit the Port of Koper

Koper, 13 July - The Port of Koper is oriented towards the development of SE sea routes and strives to become a distribution centre for Europe. However its business strategy faces administrative restriction of the EU, which make it impossible for the Port to obtain a status of the entrance/departure point for the internal market of the EU. That was the key message submitted to the joint committee of the Slovene and European Parliaments by Bruno Korelic, chairman of the board of the Port of Koper. The above-mentioned committee on Thursday in Koper, southwestern Slovenia, concluded a two-day session, which focused on the presentation of the Port of Koper, the assessment of co-operation with the EU so far and in the future, the co-operation between the ports of Koper and Trieste, as well as difficulties of further development of transport routes in the area.
