Standpoints for Creation of Constitutional Law Prepared

Ljubljana, 14 July - The commission for the voting system and constitutional amendments on Friday cleared up standpoints in order to prepare constitutional legislation to change the Constitution. This follows yesterday's decision in parliament to begin amending Article 80 of the Constitution. The commission proposed to supplement the article with a provision by which "lawmakers, excluding those representing ethnic minorities, be elected under the system of proportional representation with a four percent electoral threshold needed to enter the National Assembly, which shall allow the voters to directly decide on the individual allocation of mandates".
