Kucan and Ciampi Discuss EU Enlargement

Rome, 14 July - Slovene President Milan Kucan met with Italian President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi during his working visit to Rome on Friday. The two presidents discussed the enlargement and the reforms of the EU, as well as the act to protect the Slovene minority in Italy, which was passed by the Italian parliament on Wednesday. After the private meeting, the two presidents were joined by other senior officials, including Italian Foreign Minister Lamberto Dini, Slovene Foreign Minister Lojze Peterle, State Secretary for Slovenes living abroad Zorko Pelikan and Roberto Battelli, the representative of the Italian minority in the Slovene parliament. President Kucan said that the meeting took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
