Verheugen: Slovenia Must Increase its Recognisability in the EU

Ljubljana, 18 July - Given that EU enlargement is one of the EU's strategic goals, both member states and candidate countries should be informed about its implications, European Commissioner for Enlargement Guenter Verheugen said during a visit to the Ljubljana-based Europe Centre, an information centre of the European Commission delegation to Slovenia. The EU official stressed that the majority of EU citizens have little knowledge of Slovenia, which, in his opinion, is a result of their false image of the country. A solution to this would be a joint promotional campaign based on the EU and Slovene information strategies.
