Former PM Sees SLS+SKD Move As Favourable for Slovenia

Ljubljana, 22 July - The proposed solution for an amended proportional representation electoral system is better and fairer than the current electoral system, as it does away with some weaknesses and will results in more clarity, former prime minister Janez Drnovsek told Saturday's edition of the daily Vecer. Drnovsek believes that establishing a two-thirds majority which will find an acceptable solution is what is important at the moment. Drnovsek also expressed his belief that a majority electoral system would be acceptable, but added that he thinks that the current proposal to amend article 80 of the constitution is better "than to continue jostling and go to elections by the old system". Drnovsek labelled as favourable for the country, the move by SLS+SKD Slovene People's Party leader Franc Zagozen to support the proposed amendments, because it enables a solution to be reached.
