Parliament Begins to Discuss Amendment to Constitution

Ljubljana, 25 July - Parliament on Tuesday afternoon began to discuss the proposal to amend the constitution so as to write an improved version of the proportional representation system in to the constitution. The proposal includes a supplement of article 80 of the constitution with a provision by which "lawmakers, excluding those representing ethnic minorities, be elected under the system of proportional representation with a four percent electoral threshold needed to enter the National Assembly, which shall allow the voters to directly decide on the individual allocation of mandates".
