Speaker Podobnik Favours the Elections to be as Late as Possible

Ljubljana, 26 July - Speaker of the National Assembly Janez Podobnik has informed President Milan Kucan that Parliament is willing to debate and adopt EU-compatible legislation throughout August and September. The two officials met on Wednesday as part of the consultations Kucan is holding with the leaders of parliamentary parties, the speaker of the parliament and the prime minister on possible dates on which to call and hold this year's general elections.
