Weekly Review of the Slovene Economy from 22 to 28 July

Ljubljana, 30 July - The model of forming petrol prices, which was introduced on 4 April, last week for the first time brought decrease in the prices of petrol. These dropped by 3.6 percent on average. The Austrian mobile telephony operator Mobilkom officially informed Si.mobil, a Slovene company in the same line of business, about its bid to purchase Si.mobil shares. The telecommunications company Telekom Slovenia revealed its plans ahead of the upcoming liberalisation and privatisation. At the end of the week, Slovene Economics Minister Joze Zagozen and Croatian Deputy Prime Minister Goran Granic met for informal talks, establishing that actual possibilities exist to quickly solve difficulties related to Krsko Nuclear Power Plant on the principle of openness, transparency and in accordance with European standards. The government, which again said there would be no re-balancing of the budget, last week passed legislation on the Bank of Slovenia, while it has not yet agreed on the concept of bank privatisation.
