Kucan Surprised by Schuessel's Comments

Ljubljana, 4 September - During an interview for Radio Maribor on Monday, Slovene President Milan Kucan expressed surprise at the comments made by Austrian Chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel on Saturday, who criticised Kucan's comments regarding the AVNOJ decisions. Kucan added that he has only heard what was reported in the Slovene media, but that he is surprised especially since the statement "is the standpoint of a very high official of a country, with whom we have very good relations, which supported Slovene efforts and Slovene views on the Yugoslav crisis throughout and was among those countries which understood better than others what was happening and also supported us with our European issues up until now."
