First Slovene Gold Medal at Olympic Games - Cop and Spik Justify Favourites Tag

Sydney, 23 September - The world champion Slovene men's double sculls pair of Iztok Cop and Luka Spik added the Olympic gold to their award cabinets on Saturday, on the way bringing an independent Slovenia their first ever gold medal in Olympic competition. Cop and Spik finished with a time of 6:16.63, 1.35 seconds ahead of the Norwegian pair of Olaf Tufte and Fredrik Raaen Bekken and 3.86 seconds ahead of Italians Giovanni Calabrese and Nicola Sartori.
