NKBM Bank Generates Over 16 Million Euros Net Profits in First Eight Months

Maribor, 29 September - The second largest Slovene bank, Nova Kreditna banka Maribor (NKBM), generated pretax net profits of SIT 3.353 billion (16 million euros) in the first eight months of 2000, which was 16 percent more than in the same period last year. Bank's total assets totalled SIT 355.335 billion (1.7 billion euros) at the end of August, a rise of 15 percent over the same period last year, explained chairman of the bank's board Joze Golovsek at a news conference on Friday. He also said that a higher demand in savings in foreign exchange had been noted, and that a higher amount of credits had been granted to the economic sector and the citizens.
