Weekly Review of the Slovene Economy from 31 March to 5 April

Ljubljana, 8 April - An amended 2001 budget proposal was sent to the Parliament by the Slovene government and is to be discussed on 17 April. The anticipated budget deficit remains at approximately one percent of Slovenia's GDP. The Institute for Macroeconomic Analysis and Development has not changed its evaluation of Slovenia's 2001 economic growth at 4.5 percent and inflation rate at 7.8 percent. On Monday, an agreement on the minimal purchase price of milk, which will be higher by SIT 2.5 and will stand at SIT 56.44 (0.26 euro) was reached by the representatives of agriculture organisations and those of the largest Slovene dairy Ljubljanske mlekarne.
