European MP on Role of European Parliament and Slovenia's Chances

Ljubljana, 11 April - The theme of Wednesday's lecture given by visiting Italian Senator and European MP Demetrio Volcic was the role of the European Parliament. Volcic, who was born in Slovenia, explained that the European Parliament is the most inclined institution of the EU to enlargement. This is also because debates can take place in parliament which otherwise cannot take place on the level of national governments or the European Commission. Volcic also thought that Slovenia will be among the first EU candidate countries to enter the Union.
