Controversial Changes to Law on Fertility Treatment Adopted

Ljubljana, 19 April - Despite obstruction of all the opposition parties (Social Democrats of Slovenia, New Slovenia, Slovene National Party and Slovene Youth Party) and the abstinence of the coalition's SLS+SKD, changes to the law on infertility treatment and fertilisation with biomedical help were adopted in fast procedure with 43 votes against two in the Slovene Parliament on Thursday. The law will now enable artificial fertilisation of single women who are capable of conceiving without medical help.
