"Friendly Giants" in Slovene Waters

Izola, 24 April - A group of unusual visitors has been lingering in the Slovene sea, namely a school of basking sharks (Lat. cetorhinus maximus). Seven sharks were spotted on Tuesday afternoon just off the city of Izola, the largest of them being ten metres long. The first two sharks of this protected plankton-eating species were spotted on Sunday and have now been joined by five more.
