MPs Submit Referendum Initiative

Ljubljana, 26 April - A group of 34 MPs from all four opposition parties, headed by France Cukjati of the opposition Social Democrats (SDS), filed an initiative on Thursday for a subsequent legislative referendum on the amendment to the act on the treatment of infertility and procedures of fertilisation with bio-medical assistance, which the national Assembly adopted on 19 April. The Parliament Speaker is thus tasked with convening an extraordinary parliament session within seven days to discuss the issuing of the referendum.
