Less than Half of Slovenes Support EU Membership, Survey Shows

Ljubljana, 9 May - If a referendum on Slovenia's EU membership was held now, only 49 percent of Slovenes would support Slovenia's EU integration, 27 percent would vote against it, while 24 percent are still undecided, according to the latest poll released by the national television on Tuesday evening. Moreover, only 40 percent of those polled are persuaded that Slovenia would benefit from EU membership, 29 percent believe the union would damage Slovene interests, 15 percent do not expect any changes, while 16 percent of those questioned are still undecided.
