Europe Day: Unification in the Spirit of Peace and Democracy

Ljubljana, 9 May - "Slovenia can be justly proud of what it has achieved in the process of accession to the EU. With 18 chapters provisionally closed Slovenia is well on track for EU membership and an obvious front-runner candidate country. Clearly, there still remains work to be done, including the negotiations on some of the more complicated chapters, but for Slovenia the end of the long road is already in sight," European Enlargement Commissioner Guenter Verheugen said in a message upon 9 May, Europe Day.
