Catholic Church Calls on Citizens to Vote Against Fertilisation of Single Women

Ljubljana, 11 June - The Catholic Church defends the family based on mutual personal giving of husband and wife and their openness to fertility. To speak of a right of women to bear children is misleading, as no human being has a right to another person and a child is not an object that could be acquired or cast aside as one wishes, is the position of the Slovene Conference of Bishops, Conference of Order Institutions and the Council of Catholic Laymen, in a statement on the up-coming referendum on the changes to the law on fertilisation with bio-medical help.
