Weekly Review of the Slovene Economy from 29 September to 5 October

Ljubljana, 7 October - Deputy Secretary General of the OECD, Seichi Kondo, announced that the OECD is seriously considering taking in new members, during his visit to Slovenia this week. The news is surely welcomed by Slovenia, which has placed OECD membership on the list of its top foreign political goals. The week was also marked by the signing of a free trade agreement between Slovenia and Bosnia, which is expected to further boost trade between the two countries - Bosnia is one of Slovenia's most important trading partners. Also making headlines, was the government's decision to confirm that it would grant only one 3G license, despite protests by Slovenia's second mobile operator.
