25 Million Euros of Payments to Alleviate 2001 Weather Damages in Agriculture

Ljubljana, 16 October - An act on state aids to alleviate damages caused by drought, frost and hail suffered by the agriculture sector this year was passed in Parliament on Tuesday. The act, adopted in a 47-to-1 vote with 62 MPs present, secures SIT 5.5 billion (25 million euros) of budget revenues to be allocated to compensation payments. Around SIT one billion (4.5 million euros) are to be available this year, while the majority of damage compensations will be payed out by the end of April next year.
