Italian Centre Left Stands Up for Ethnic Slovenes in Trieste

Trieste, 5 November - ITALY/SLOVENIA/MINORITY
The Trieste representatives of Italian centre left parties defended the rights of the Slovene minority in Italy at a press conference in Trieste on Monday, reported Radio Trieste A, quoting former Senator and the leader of the centre left coalition Olive in the Trieste Municipal Council, Fulvio Camerini, that the Slovene minority has been deprived of census forms in the Slovene language, which is a step backwards. He also said that the demand for Slovene census forms is legally grounded in Italy's Constitution, the provincial statute of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and the Minority Protection Act adopted by Italy in February.
