Relation between Ombudsman and Judiciary Bodies Discussed at International Conference
Ljubljana, 12 November - A two-day international conference entitled Relations between Ombudsman and Judiciary Bodies, organised by Slovene Ombudsman Matjaz Hanzek in co-operation with the Council of Europe (CoE) within the framework of the Southeast Europe Stability Pact, kicked off on Monday. In his opening speech, Hanzek said that independence and professional responsibility cannot serve as excuses for laziness, lack of interest and an irresponsible attitude towards individuals, as professionalism and independence of the two institutions are based on the main reason for their existence - quality and responsible trials on one side and the best possible protection of human rights on the other.
