Slovenia Expects Drop in Beef Demand if Mad-Cow Disease Is Confirmed

Ljubljana, 14 November - The demand for beef in Slovenia is bound to drop substantially if the suspicion of BSE presence in the cow from northern Slovenia is confirmed by tests carried out in Switzerland. The test results are expected to be known at the end of this, or at the beginning of next week. So far, no decrease in the demand has been recorded by the Slovene association of meat producers, said on Wednesday the association's Franc Campa, who is to attend a meeting of cattle-breeders, meat producers, the Slovene Chamber of Agriculture, and the Veterinary Administration on Thursday.
