Slovene Beef Exporters Concerned with Cancellations from Former Yugoslav Republics
Ljubljana/Celje/Murska Sobota/Nova Gorica, 15 November - Slovene exporters of meat and meat products are facing the first difficulties related to the suspicion of the presence of BSE in Slovenia. The manager of meat processing plant Celjske mesnine, Izidor Krivec, told STA on Thursday that Macedonia immediately cancelled the purchase of 20 tonnes of beef and ten tonnes of beef products after the suspicion was announced on Monday. Croatia also cancelled an order of 15 tonnes of beef from this largest Slovene meat exporter that estimates total damages from cancellations at SIT 50 million (EUR 227,000).
