Slovene Railways Face a Financial Crisis

Ljubljana, 28 November - Slovene Railways (SZ) will finish 2001 with a loss of almost SIT 3.7 billion (EUR 16.7 million), up SIT 1.4 billion (EUR 6.3 million) over last year's loss, and over SIT one billion (EUR 4.5 million) worse than anticipated in the 2001 business plan approved by the government in spring, said SZ general manager Igor Zajec on Wednesday, adding that the financial crisis cannot be solved in a year.
