Weekly Review of the Slovene Economy from 24 to 30 November

Ljubljana, 2 December - In a bid to make public finance more stable, budgets for two years, namely 2002 and 2003 were adopted in parliament on Friday, 30 November, in what is the first time for Slovenia to get two budgets in a package. Among the highlights of this week were also a takeover bid for all shares of Slovenia's brewer Pivovarna Union made by Belgium's brewer Interbrew as well as a bid to purchase Banka Koper, Slovenia's fourth largest bank, by Italy's SanPaolo IMI.
