Weekly Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 1 to 6 December

Ljubljana, 8 December - The first week of the ultimate month of the year passed to the tune of foreign affairs, as Slovene government made a breakthrough in its relations with the Holy See by adopting the wording of the long-awaited agreement on legal issues between the two sides. Moreover, Slovene paid a number of visits abroad: Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel was in Bucharest for the ministerial meeting of the OSCE and paid a visit to Croatia; Speaker of Parliament Borut Pahor paid a visit to Brussels during which he also attended the meeting of speakers of parliaments from the EU candidate countries with the President of the European Parliament; European Affairs Minister Igor Bavcar paid a visit to London. Although not travelling this week, Prime Minister Janez Drnovsek did meet with his Lithuanian counterpart Algirdas Brazauskas. The latter paid an official visit to Slovenia.
