Austrian Slovenes not Prepared to Negotiate on Bilingual Signs
Klagenfurt, 17 December - The Slovene minority in the Austrian province of Carinthia is not willing to discuss any compromise on the issue of bilingual signs, as the ruling of Austria's Constitutional Court on Thursday was perfectly clear; bilingual signs are to be set up in areas where at least ten percent of the population is Slovene, said on Monday Bernard Sadovnik, president of the National Council of Carinthian Slovenes (NSKS), in reaction to a statement by Carinthian Governor Joerg Haider that the province would hold a round table on the issue if the minority proposes a compromise.
