New Year Brings Higher VAT for Slovene Consumers
Ljubljana, 30 December - Slovene consumers are in for across the board price increases in the new year, as the rate of value added tax (VAT) is to be raised in the country. The only comfort for cash-strapped consumers, whose wallets have been thinned by Christmas shopping, are the New Years clearances and the fact that tough competition will mean that retailers will not be prone to raising prices as much as otherwise.
