Head of Criminal Cartel Smuggling Immigrants to be Released from Custody

Ljubljana, 15 January - Josip Loncaric, the chief organiser of an international criminal cartel involved in smuggling immigrants from the east across Slovenia to Italy, is to be released from custody, decided the Ljubljana court on Tuesday in what was a surprising turn in the court trial against Loncaric and eleven of his associates. The decision, however, has not yet been enforced, as it can be appealed within three days.
