NATO - Slovenia: Speaker Pahor Calls for Referendum on Slovenia's NATO Integration

Ljubljana, 16 January - "While a large majority of parliamentary political parties support Slovenia's entry into NATO, the public opinion is far from being as uniform," Speaker Borut Pahor said while presenting his view on Slovenia and NATO at the public debate on the country's integration into NATO on Wednesday. He added that Slovenia would like to enable the exchange of different views, and considerably strengthen the unity of Slovene people in favour of the support for NATO integration as a result of this exchange. Pahor also said he is in favour of a referendum on this issue.
