NATO - Slovenia: Public Support for NATO Dropped from 62% in 1997 to Some 50% in 2001
Ljubljana, 16 January - While 62 percent of Slovene citizens supported Slovenia's NATO integration in 1997, the support dropped to 55.4 percent in the same year after the Madrid summit, at which Slovenia, contrary to expectations, did not get an invitation, Director of the Government Public Relations and Media Office Alja Brglez said at the debate on Slovenia's NATO integration, while presenting results of the public opinion polls carried out since 1997.
