NATO - Slovenia: NATO Membership Is the Best Possible Alternative, Says Defence Expert

Ljubljana, 16 January - While NATO membership is not an ideal option, it is the best of all possible alternatives, Dr Anton Bebler, a defence expert and president of the Atlantic Council of Slovenia, said at the public debate on Slovenia's NATO integration on Wednesday. Bebler stressed that NATO membership should not be abused for reasons of prestige. Moreover, it should not be discussed as "an absolute value".
