Stock Market Week Marked by Falling Prices of Pharmaceutical Shares

Ljubljana, 19 January - The Slovene benchmark SBI 20 index on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange (LJSE) came to a standstill this week after a series of record-braking days the week before. It closed this week's trading at 2,210.81 points, down 35.10 points over last week. The fall was chiefly a result of dropping share prices of the two major Slovene pharmaceutical companies, Lek and Krka, after the Parliament adopted changes to the act on pharmaceuticals and introduced ahead of time a six-year data exclusivity provision on the production of generic drugs.
