Janez Potocnik Appointed New Minister of European Affairs

Ljubljana, 24 January - Janez Potocnik, who heads Slovenia's negotiating team in the EU accession talks, was on Thursday appointed the new Minister of European Affairs in a 71-to-3 vote in parliament. As expected, his nomination was backed by all parliamentary parties with the exception of the opposition National Party, while an opposition Social Democrat (SDS) abstained from voting.
