Slovenia Signs Additional Protocol on Human Organ Transplants

Strasbourg, 24 January - An additional protocol on the transplant of human organs and tissues to the convention on human rights in biomedicine was signed by Slovenia on Thursday on the sidelines of the Council of Europe session in Strasbourg, said the Slovene Health Ministry. The protocol defines the principles for the protection of human dignity and basic rights upon removal and transplant of body parts, as well as prohibiting trafficking with human body parts and encouraging European co-operation in this field, according to the Ministry.
