4th LDS Congress: Jamnikar Elected Secretary General, Drnovsek Re-elected President

Portorož, 27 January - By electing a new leadership and adopting seven resolutions, the leading Slovene political party wrapped up its two-day, 4th party congress held under the motto "Slovenia, the Future of Europe" in Portoroz. Janez Drnovsek, who was re-elected to the post of LDS president with overwhelming support of 471 out of 485 votes, labelled the election result "a confirmation of the vote of confidence to the whole LDS leadership and myself". The vote of confidence however was not survived by Bogdan Biscak, whose rival Peter Jamnikar was elected the new secretary general.
