Bank of Slovenia Expected to Adopt Strategic Decisions Soon

Ljubljana, 12 February - Bank of Slovenia Governor Mitja Gaspari has recently announced that the central bank council would come to a final decision on whether to allow Italy's SanPaolo IMI to purchase Banka Koper by mid-February, a decision that is to "indicate what decision the central bank would take when it comes to buyers of both state-owned banks," according to Gaspari. The deadline for the bank's final decision expires at the beginning of March, however the council is holding a meeting on Tuesday behind firmly closed doors, which insiders believe will not yet result in the ultimate decision.
