Weekly Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 9 to 15 February

Ljubljana, 16 February - Making headlines the past week was EU and NATO integration-related news, headed by a visit of a NATO evaluation team in Slovenia and the meeting of Slovenia's European Affairs Minister with EU Commissioner for Enlargement Guenter Verheugen. During his meeting with the enlargement chief, Potocnik attempted to push forward the view that Slovenia is unique and that this must be considered in the financial strategy of EU enlargement, as well as the standpoints on the chapter of agriculture. Meanwhile, a trade union representing Slovene farmers warned of mass strikes aimed at drawing attention to problems in Slovene agriculture in the light of EU integration.
