Equal Opportunities Office Asked to Examine Violation of Shop Assistants' Rights

Ljubljana, 22 February - The retailers' trade union on Friday urged the Government Office for Equal Opportunities to examine the situation in the retail sector in a bid to identify violations of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW). The trade union maintains that shop female assistants have been subject to various forms of discrimination, especially after opening hours were fully liberalised last year.
