Weekly Review of Events Involving Slovenia from 16 to 22 February
Ljubljana, 23 February - The week's top news was made on Wednesday, as the Chancellor of neighbouring Austria, Wolfgang Scheussel, paid an official visit to Slovenia. While meeting with Slovene Prime Minister Janez Drnovsek, the pair agreed that progress has been made in bilateral relations, while some open issues still need to be attended to. Schuessel also reiterated the Austrian government's resolve to continue to support EU enlargement. On another note, Slovene Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel went on a three-day tour of Poland, Lithuania and Latvia. Rupel's talks with officials from the three countries focussed on EU and NATO enlargement.
