Slovene Home Appliances Producer to Boost Production and Cut Jobs

Ljubljana, 27 February - Gorenje, a leading Slovene home appliances producer, had a profit of SIT 3.2 billion (EUR 14.3 million) in 2001 according to unaudited results, up from SIT 2.8 billion (EUR 12.5 million) in 2000. Gross revenues rose from SIT 91.6 billion (EUR 410 million) in 2000 to SIT 103.6 billion (EUR 463 million) in 2001, when Gorenje manufactured 2.6 million large domestic appliances, exceeding its business plans by 13 percent, according to member of the board Marija Miheljak.
