Slovenes Do Not Trust Armed Forces and Favour Professional Army, Survey Shows

Ljubljana, 2 March - Some 85 percent of Slovenes believe that Slovenia is not threatened, however as much as 48 percent feel that the Slovene army, in its present form, could not defend the country if threats became a reality, a poll published Saturday by the daily Delo shows. Only 18.1 percent were convinced that the army is capable of defending Slovenia, while 25 percent said that it would offer appropriate resistance, but only in the short term.
